Strong participation is essential to achieving course outcomes. Our goal is for every participant to meet or exceed “B” grade expectations.
A – Distinguished
Demonstrates exceptional engagement |
B – Proficient
Demonstrates very good engagement |

In-Class Engagement | Participant meets “B” grade expectations and exceeds them with especially thought provoking and thoughtful contributions that help foster a productive online community. | Participant actively and positively contributes to class sessions: arrives on time; carefully prepares assigned material and tasks; offers pertinent comments and information; demonstrates critical thinking skills; shows respect for fellow participants; works effectively with other participants; focuses on tasks at hand and completes them in a timely manner; and volunteers without dominating the class. | Participant falls short of “B” grade expectations in one to two areas. | Participant does not meet expectations in multiple areas and/or dismisses instructor requests to address problems (e.g. dominates the class). |
Blogging | Blogger meets “B” grade expectations and exceeds them with especially thought provoking and thoughtful contributions that help foster a productive online community. | Blogger actively and positively contributes to student blogs: submits complete posts; offers meaningful replies to peers; moderates comments received; and respects guidelines, netiquette and deadlines. | Blogger falls short of “B” expectations in one to two areas. | Blogger does not meet expectations in multiple areas and/or dismisses instructor requests to address problems (e.g. major netiquette issues). |
