Project Update

As of right now Christa and I have not conducted any interviews. However, we have taken steps to set up interviews though. One thing we have done for our project is attended an on camps panel about migration in our state. The people on this panel were actively working with migrant communities in Maine. We decided to reach out to Fatuma, the woman responsible for the Immigrant Resource Center of Maine. Christa was able to introduce herself to Fatuma and present our project to her, Fatuma seemed to be happy to help us find people to interview. We have sent an email to Fatuma with information about our project, and are waiting for a response from her.

In order to stay productive, I have been using this time to work on our website. I have been working on setting up the pages and building the navigation structure of the site. Christa and I have also been working on our website texts in a google doc. We are doing this so that when we are content with the text it can be easily added to the website.

  1. I am in the same boat as you: as of yet, I have not conducted any interviews. However, I think you are spending your time in a very effective and productive manner! Working on the visual layout of your website and beginning to create context for your final project will serve you well in the upcoming weeks. In addition, I think you were presented with an excellent opportunity by attending the migration panel at your school. Not only did you get to hear other perspectives/projects regarding localized migration, but you were able to reach out to a well-established contact, too! Good luck with your first interview; I look forward to hearing about it!

  2. It is great that you are utilizing your time by building the basic structure of your website. Cristal and I have not had the opportunity to conduct any interviews yet either, but we have been communicating how we plan to structure our website. I will definitely have to take a look at yours when I get a chance. I found that creating drop-down menus helps to consolidate things much better than having too many pages (although I had to heavily rely on Youtube tutorials to figure out how to do this). This especially true considering Cristal and I have to make available English and Spanish versions of all of our information. Best of luck to you!
